The exhibition project focuses on reflecting, through the poetics of Carlos Pazos -and his acute power of observation and repositioning- the ways of life that exist and are manifested in today's Cuban reality. The objective is to generate an enriching exchange between the artist's creative work and the life of the city of Havana. The project is organized around two axes: the exhibition at the CDAV in Havana and the production of a new audiovisual work on the 1950s Cuban musical group "Los Llopis".

Carlos Pazos' exhibition for the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales de la Habana presents a selection of six audiovisuals (2006/2010) including Dra-matize; I always wanted to make French films; Sex Toy Story; To the artist what he deserves!; This is a bolero and Blanc y negreA selection of his photographic work is also on display, including the mythical 1975 series "Voy a hacer de mi una estrella" and the triptych "Don Tancredo", 1995. Two new specific installations made by the artist during his stay in Cuba are also presented.

"I use objects, I collect them, I group them. I try to build a discourse that is linked to my life... Any object is susceptible to enter the "group of the chosen ones", but I have a weakness for the poorest ones and for those who aspire to be aristocratic. They are usually the most ingenious". In line with the exhibition, Carlos Pazos aims to show the different ways of assimilating a phenomenon of mass culture in different contexts, based on the research of a Cuban musical group from the 1950s, "Los Llopis", who, living in Spain, were essential in the dissemination of Elvis Presley in Spanish. An autobiographical metaphor, this work connects with the very important relationship that has, in Pazos' work, the rock and rollThe nostalgia for the times lived, the survival of essential references in his poetic memory and, of course, melancholy.

Carlos Pazos, Barcelona, 1949, studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Barcelona, Philosophy at the University of Barcelona and Design at the EINA School. He had his first retrospective exhibition in 2007. Don't tell me anything at the MACBA (Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona) and at the MNCARS (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía de Madrid), for which it made Mnemocine, Cutout Filman audiovisual collage. He has expressed his love for music and nightlife by directing dance halls such as the Salón Cibeles in Barcelona from 1978 to 1983, and has collaborated as a screenwriter and actor in several films. In January 1995 he founded in New York, with the artist Steven Pollack, the sporadic active association "Vodoo Victims" and in 1999 "Mic and Mau"with photographer Luis Ros. In 2004 he published his first book of texts Squiggles and Squigglespublished by the University of Barcelona and received the National Plastic Arts Award from the Spanish Ministry of Culture. Since then he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His work is part of important international collections both public and private.
