Alicia Chillida<\/p><p>Alfredo Jaar <span data-contrast=\"auto\">exhibits his work, <\/span><i>Epilogue<\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(1998),\u00a0<\/span><i>In memoriam<\/i>,<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0a video installation based on the media's treatment of the genocide that took place in Rwanda in 1994. Jaar's work will be exhibited in parallel to the workshop that begins the following day in the same hall, entitled\u00a0<\/span><em>Aesthetics of Resistance<\/em>,<span data-contrast=\"auto\"> aimed at those whose trajectory and interests are in the areas of artistic production, media, humanities, anthropology, sociology, architecture, urbanism, cinema, citizen action... He has lived and worked in New York since 1982.His work revolves around geopolitical and social crises, relations between first and third world countries, the immigration conflict, racial violence, refugees...<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He has participated in the Venice, S\u00e3o Paulo, Johannesburg, Sydney, Istanbul and Kwangju Biennials, as well as the Documenta in Kassel. His most important exhibitions have taken place at the\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">New Museum of Contemporary Art<\/span><\/i> from<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0New York,\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Whitechapel<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of London, the\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Museum of Contemporary Art\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of Chicago, the\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pergamon Museum<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in Berlin and the\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Moderna Museet<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of Stockholm. How to make art from information that most would prefer to ignore? How to succeed in inscribing our artistic practice in a media landscape oversaturated with consumer images?
